Thrilled that I have been able to get hold of a copy of this book.
Amazing images inside that were taken back between 1995 – 1997 in Dublin, and then went on display at Smithfield Horse Fair in Dublin 1999 opened by President Mary Robinson.
The quotes by the travellers children are very revealing. You can almost here the children talking to you in a very honest way of the tradition and lifestyle that they have been born into.
The images were all taken on a Polaroid camera with 665 film producing an image and negative.
Sadly no longer available.
This body of work is part of my contextual studies and contributes to the urban photographer.
The law has now changed in Ireland regarding the horse fair, and yet another way of life, culture and tradition is fading away as we make room for more Health and Safety regulations!
