A renowned Japanese photographer who was born in 1947, she confronted the trauma in post war Japan, and captured the dawning of a new era.

In 2005 she was chosen to represent Japan at the Venice Biennale.

One of her exhibitions had work titled ‘Hiroshima’, the images were of clothing worn by victims of the atomic bomb, the clothing is kept at the ‘Hiroshima Peace Museum Memorial’

With thanks to Brett Rogers, Director of The Photographers Gallery, London, for taking the time to introduce me.
